.....to write.
Perhaps it's time for me to don that black gown again.

I feel sick
By chance I went to MegaloManiac's blog.
I was disgusted, dismayed and furious. How dare he portray himself as an innocent and courageous statesman? He is neither. The rot in Malaysia did not start with Sleepy. He aggravated it but he did not start it. It was this twisted, manipulative, egoistic dictator who started the mess.
He does not shut up, does he? Is he so stupid or is he so arrogant? Stupidly arrogant? Arrogantly stupid?? He still does not see what he did in 1988 was so wrong, so bad that no reasonable person could have approved his actions.
10 years later he is still trying to justify his actions and painting himself as a beleaguered former leader..

Starting from young....
My 5 year-old nephew comes to me and said "Athai, boys must go to work and girls must be in the kitchen".
If he wasn't so adorable, I would have thumped him.
I had a better idea though. Showed him all the cookery shows on AFC and the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Robert Rainford and Chef Wan, his own dad and his grandad. Fella got confused.
Then I delivered what I considered my finest shot: If girls must be in the kitchen, then they don't have to go to work. Then they cannot buy little boys sweeties and presents.
Typical male. A little bribery and fella fell like a pack of cards. Beliefs be damned!! LOL

Musings
My best buddy T said to me, "Hey, Princess, if you had stuck to what you were doing all those years ago, we would have been calling you YB by now".
She has a point. A Minister and an ex-Minister are my contemporaries. At least 5 MPs from the Opposition are friends, seniors, colleagues. Senior Opposition MPs know me on a first-name basis.
But I am tired. Jaded. Worn-out. I had done my fair share of demonstrating, shouting, writing, signing....the fire is still there but has become a flame now. I just want to sleep. What a strange woman I am. I used to be inspired by Robert Frost. Now all I want is to sleep.
Maybe one day I'll rediscover that fire in me.

Vinayagar Chathurthi
Just came back from temple. Huge turnout for a tiny temple on a working day. I was so impressed and at the same time, fortified by the strength of the oldest religion in the world, judging by the crowd - old, young and the very young. It was really crowded. My heart expanded with so much joy when I saw that beautifully adorned Vinayagar chellai (statue) being carried from the altar to the well-lit chariot, to be paraded in the vicinity. He looked really handsome, that Pillayar of mine. Judging by the looks of rapture on the faces around me, it was a feeling shared by many. I broke out into a soft "Vakradunta Mahakaya, suryakotee sama prabha", but did it softly, under my breath, because though I may be other things, I ain't no warbler, honeychile. LOL. I was also saddened at the same time - to think that temples like mine were demolished by heartless and uncouth barbarians.
I am proud and more importantly, comfortable being a Hindu and I hate (yes, I know it is a strong word - but hey, no holds barred ;) ) all those followers of other religions who tell me that their religions are better than mine, that if I do not follow their religion/s, I will burn in hell for eternity. Hinduism does not force itself upon others, neither does it fill its followers with a burning desire to convert every man, woman and tree that they come across.
Anyway, this is a pet peeve of mine...just needed to let it out, that's all.
At the end of the day, no religion is an evil religion but then Comrade Marx had other things to say, eh?
Digressing a bit here, but Margaret Thatcher (the Iron Lady of UK) was once on a visit to Moscow. The Russian Press was giving her a hard time vis-a-vis freedom of speech in England. Mrs. Thatcher shut them up with one retort: If we had curtailed our freedom of speech, said she, Karl Marx would have never written Das Kapital!! (Marx lived in London when he wrote his famous work)
Dishum! Hehehe.
